A Brief History...
Music was always a big part of Ryan's life. Between his mother's boyfriend's Rock band practicing in the basement, and the television that always seemed to be tuned to MTV (back before the "M" stood for Madness), music was just always sort of...around. And quiet young Ryan just stood in the middle of it all. Absorbing. At the age of 3, Ryan began composing. He would just sit there for hours in his room, playing with the sounds he heard in his head, not even realizing what the sounds were. And when he would dream, he would hear sounds so foreign - so very otherworldly - that he would sometimes wake up crying from just plain shock.
Eventually, Ryan found out that this wasn't exactly normal...but that's okay, because he eventually got his hands on a guitar. Then a keyboard. A tape-recorder. A mandolin. A 4 track. A synthesizer. And finally...a computer. By the age of 16, he had amassed so many home recordings, he needed a large television box just to store them. This was his obsession. And though Ryan was content to obsess quietly, eventually people took notice.
A childhood friend of Ryan's was attending film school in Vancouver, BC. As he was completing his final project for the entire program, he realized he needed music. He called Ryan. Though he had never tried or even considered making music specifically for film, Ryan agreed to give it a go. 24 hours and 7 skipped classes later, Ryan had his first soundtrack. This was now his life.
Ryan has since composed for several independent short-films, movie trailers, local television stations and production companies, and has just completed his first feature film "The Shadow People".
