Well, just like that, and a year has past me by.  And what a year!

Our little Emry Josephine Paul was born on September 9th, and life has been wonderfully hectic ever since.  I thought it was hard being a struggling composer BEFORE having a baby.  And yeah, it's much harder with a baby in tow.  Once sleep and recreation become a complete luxury,  it's amazing how quickly your perspective on the precariousness of time shifts.

BUT STILL, things have been quite busy for I, your humble, blue-collar composer.  Before Christmas, I composed for a wonderful little comedy called Trendi, written and directed by Ben Derrick.  It had its premiere at the Harrogate Royal Hall in the UK, which is kind of interesting for me.

Secondly, a demo was released for The Age of Decadence, an upcoming PC roleplaying game for which I have been composing.  It's pretty danged awesome, and you really should give it a try, especially if you are into old-school rpgs like Fallout or Balder's Gate.  Watch the Trailer.

Finally, if you just happen to find yourself watching  When Vacations Attack on the Travel Channel (and we all find ourselves watching reality TV from time-to-time, just admit it) you are bound to hear a bit of my music, as it is used in just about every episode of the season (I wonder if my cello ushers some disaster in some jello, or the sound of the snare beckons forth some burning hair?).

There is another project, not yet released (so I must be somewhat discrete).  But I can say that it entails zombies and bluegrass music!  At last!

Stay tuned!

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!

Just began work for an upcoming video game called Age of Decadence for Iron Tower Studio.  It's an RPG set in a post-apocalyptic, Ancient Roman world.  You can view their latest video HERE (with awesome music).  You can also listen to my completed first track at HERE.  There's  a bit of buzz around this one, and the game is really looking like it'll be pretty awesome (I love video games, especially old-school rpgs).

Word to your moms...

Neat and Neat.

Well, so many cool things happening, and...I can't tell you a single thing about any of them!!  And its frustrating, because I'm bursting at the seams here!  Some things I'm simply not allowed to talk about, and others, well, they'll PROBABLY happen, but you never know.  I just wouldn't want to cry "Wolf" when its really a chicken.  Is this cruel of me?  Am I simply pulling an Abrams here and giving you just enough to keep you coming back?  Well...I can promise you that all this talk is at least leading to something cool.  Till then...

The Shadow People

5/12/2011

The last month has been insane, exhausting, and completely worthwhile!  Its been a science experiment of sorts:  Can a human being survive on almonds and 2 hours of sleep a night?  And for how long?  And if so, can they produce 3-months-worth of work in just 1 month?
Well, I am proud to say, with my fists held high into the sky and "Eye of the Tiger" playing loudly overhead (over-dramatic much, Ryan?) today is the opening of The Shadow People, a feature film from Conrad Studios, for which I worked not-long -enough and yet-very-hard to compose all the original music.  EVERYONE involved put in SO much work to make it possible, and I am truly blessed to have been a part of it.
The Soundtrack will be available for purchase through CDBaby tomorrow, and available via Itunes, Amazon, etc. sometime in the near future.

Welcome!

1/17/2011

Welcome friends and neighbors!  Much is happening, which is always good.  As a composer, as I am sure with any artist, it is easy to feel like the ground can suddenly drop from below your feet at any moment, landing you in a stadium full of laughing onlookers shouting "This is why you should have finished college!!"  But, when there is creative work to be done, I at least have a wonderful diversion from my usual obsessive paranoia.

I just finished up a pair of educational documentaries for Black Dog Productions.  Suzanne Blais, owner of Black Dog, is one of the funnest people I have ever worked with, and I look forward to future projects.  If you ever meet her, buy her coffee.  The woman never sleeps.

I can relate.

And after a bit of a delay, work on the feature film "The Shadow People" is back underway.  I will post samples when I can.  Director Conrad Faraj has planned an opening in May.  I must say that, despite MANY obstacles that have hinder post-production, Conrad has pushed forward where any other young film maker would have called it a day.  And I am greatful because I think the finished product will be great.
